After a successful twenty-year career in education, Jacqueline Harvey is now one of Australia’s most popular authors for children. She has written 61 books including the bestselling Alice-Miranda, Clementine Rose, Kensy and Max and Willa and Woof series, which have received numerous short-listings and awards and are published internationally. Her picture book, The Sound of the Sea was a CBCA Honour Book in 2006.

She has recently released several new picture books including Kevin The Sheep (the first in a series), The Daring Tale of Glora the Great and That Cat which are all illustrated by one of her former students, Kate Isobel Scott.

With a reputation for creating books that are filled with adventure, mystery, humour and heart Jacqueline is currently working on several exciting new projects. She has narrated over twenty audio books and her Alice-Miranda series has been made into two animated feature films now available on STAN and Amazon Prime.

Presentation for K-2 Students

Jacqueline is the author of three picture books for younger students, That Cat, The Daring Tale of Gloria the Great and Kevin the Sheep (with more to come). All are great read alouds and contain themes which will make you laugh and think! Her interactive presentation will showcase her inspiration for the stories, the author-illustrator relationship, themes and ideas as well as an opportunity for some drama too. Jacqueline will also discuss her Willa and Woof series for emerging readers – which is full of humour and heart, sharing where she gets her ideas and how the series came about in the first place. There will be opportunities for questions from the audience as well.

Presentation for Year 3-4 students

Jacqueline Harvey is the author of 61 books spanning picture books, junior fiction and middle grade. During the talk she will discuss her inspirations and pathway to becoming a writer. The focus will be on her Willa and Woof series for newly independent readers with some Clementine Rose, Alice-Miranda and Kensy and Max thrown in. She’ll tell lots of stories and discuss concepts associated with writing including character, plot, setting and editing. Students will be given an opportunity to ask questions.
