Alison McLennan is a Brisbane-based children’s author, singer, actress and voiceover artist. She began writing stories when her children were little and is now the published author of several picture books, including Hotel For Bees, Growing Pains, Great and Small, and Birdie Lights Up the World, as well as a junior fiction novel titled Calamity Jones: A Flamingo for Christmas. She admits to being a terrible creative writer as a child, but adored reading and volunteering in her school library. She is now passionate about sharing her love of writing stories with the next generation of dreamers.
Alison usually talks about where her love of reading and writing came from and how she became a children’s author. She focuses a little bit on all her books, more on the picture books for younger audiences, and more on the JF for older groups. With the younger grades she get them doing fun singing and dancing. With the older groups she does fun interactive group creative writing/story idea generation exercises.
