Presenter Info

Lee FullARTon is a multi-disciplined artist, author and illustrator, maker and creative from Queensland Australia.

Lee graduated from Queensland College of Art majoring in Illustration then under- took postgraduate studies that combined aspects of her arts practice with art therapy and art education for children. This led to a career that, combined with her practice, is deeply connected to a commitment to making art with and for children.

Lee has developed and delivered many arts programs and workshops for both children and adults in schools, galleries and museums, practiced art with children, undertaken and managed complex community arts projects, and contributed to writing about and research in the arts.

Lee creates daily in her home-based studio where she combines her understanding of children’s learning, her art practice and art adventures to inspire her latest works in children’s picture books.

Lee travel adventures have led her to some amazing places to see and work with renown artisans.

Lees first children’s picture book Mr Chippa the Woodblock Carver of Bagru combines a unique story about the woodblock artisans of India and insight into the process of inspiration and creation. Lee has extended the story in creating contemporary puppets inspired by traditional Kathputli.

Lee collaborates with fellow artists from varied disciplines and has created works with children across Australia and in India. Lee is the recipient of several awards recognising her contributions to art, education and culture in Queensland.
